A Blanket Of Peace

Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
There is nothing like having peace in the midst of turmoil or difficult circumstances. Oftentimes when I think about it, it is a supernatural mystery that in my craziest moments, I have had an overwhelming sense of peace and assurance.
God's peace is contrary to our natural minds. Our natural mind says "to freak out and figure a quick way out of our mess". Yet, the peace of God allows for patience, an ability to wait, and clarity to make the "right" choice versus "any" choice.
The peace of God sometimes feels like a warm blanket. When I was in the hospital a few weeks ago I kept getting cold. Well cold is an understatement. I would be freezing at times. When I'd be in those moments, it was hard to think, I didn't want to talk, I was just uncomfortable. Then the nurse would come in and ask me if there was anything I needed. I'd quickly say how I needed another blanket or I was freezing. She'd leave and come back with a blanket from the warmer and wrap it around me. Instantaneously I felt better and actually more secure.
God cares about our needs. He cares about all details. He cares about the things in life that are causing us discomfort and stirring our flesh up to react in ways we don't want to or know we shouldn't. God wants to wrap His peace over our situation like that warm blanket and let us know it'll be okay and that He is always in control. Our situation is just that, a situation. It is changeable and temporary. God, is unchanging, constant, and consistent.
